More politics, more vietnamesque language, more quagmire! now better than ever

http://www.counterpunch.org/goff05242004.html Goff has his agenda, served 20+ years in Special Forces and is unapologetic towards Powell. I think the most interesting thing about this rant is the concept of Military Age Male (MAM) being a designation from Vietnam for any male between the ages of 16 and 60 is back, we saw it in Falluja when no MAM was allowed to leave the city during the "truces". Now its being used as a justification for murdering a wedding party.

Warning - to those who hate my politics read no further

QUAGMIRE! LIES!
'Wedding video' clouds US denials (link to BBC site) Again, the top brass in our military and this administration (and I use the possessive "our" because it is our responsibility if this still is a democracy) lied lied lied until they are confronted with evidence to the contrary?

"Bad people have parties too," WTF!!!!

Intelligence what is that? Aside from all the moral and ethical issues of the war, one would think that someone in the "Establishment" would be putting a priority on not making anymore mistakes. Given the absolute debacle that is just continuing to unfold (Abu Ghraib, general insurgency, Chalabi, etc.) it is time to end this rediculous neo-colonial adventure and go home before we need, like Oedipus, to stab our eyes out in order to no longer behold our own shame.

At stake here seems not only Iraqi and U.S. lives; not only our standing in the "international community," not only the incredible resource drain in terms of tax dollars; not only the rabid corruption and rape of the U.S. citizen by corporations like Haliburton, Kellog Brown and Root, RTI international, etc ; and not just the threat of renewed terrorism because we are playing into the hands of Islamic extremists everywhere; but the corruption of basic ideals of our society - freedom, openness, and democracy. As we plunge down this road into Empire, where will it stop? The people of Iraq didn't ask to be liberated. Hussain was a fucking bastard , no question - i won't get into that debate - and let the Iraqis put him on trial. There are no WMD's. Privatizing state industry isn't "liberation" or "democratizing" - especially when the industry is being sold off to U.S. companies or U.S. subsidiaries.

There is no reason for the U.S. to continue this path, and for us as a democracy to condone the occupation, humiliation and oppression of people. It is time to get the fuck out. It is corrupting our society and corrupting the principles of this society. I think it is apparent that this is a Quagmire, a mistake, and unconscionable to continue supporting. Get the U.S. Military home. Investigate in an open and transparent manner (something this administration knows nothing about) what is going on and put people responsible for war crimes, fraud, and purjury on trial.

Let us eat a piece of that Humble Pie and say "We're sorry, we fucked up. Now what do you want us to do to make amends?"
