PENDRAGON KINGDOM: YSTRAD

EXTERNAL RELATIONS:

Ystrad was invaded and conquered in 451. It is now divided between Dyfed and Brychennoig.

Glywsing: cordial and friendly - little trouble between the Kingdoms. King Glywys is one of the few neighboors who has not made incursions on Ystrad's lands.

Towy: petty crossborder raiding by the various borderlords of both Kingdoms.

Brycheiniog: cordial but distant. Brycheiniog sees Ystrad as convenient buffer between themselves and the wild Irish and Saxons.

Dyfed: Relations were good when Tyngyr married Siobhan - daughter of the strongest chieftain - but since the O'Lynn clan's fall, relations with Farfed have been terrible. Farfed claims most of the western manors of Ystrad as part of Dyfed, and encourages raiding and incursions into these areas by clans under his control. Until recently, it has been checked less by the efforts of Ystrad and more by the clannish nature of the Irish unable to share anything they take. The youngest commander of Ystrad Sir Tadc O'Lynn has been taking the battle to the Irish upon occasion and has had some success at driving them back. However, the armies of Ystrad were too small to defend against a determined incursion by Dyfed.

INTERNAL RELATIONS:

Ystrad's banner knights sold their kingdom out and cut deals with rival powers. They are either political opportunists, untrsutworthy curs, or both.

NPCS:

King Tyngyr is (born 380) a 71 year old man bearly able to hold court. He is bedridden most of the time and does not preside over the daily affairs of court. He leaves that duty to his wife Queen Siobhan. He is a sweet old man, stubborn and prideful but weak.

Prince Synwo (born 411) is an idiot. He suffered a severe accident as a child of 5. In the accident, his older brother was killed (some say that Synwo did it bringing a horrible curse upon himself and the family) but he is locked in the mental state of 2 year old. He still messes himself and for all intents and purposes is a toddler.

Queen Siobhan of Clan O'Lynn (born 416) A strikingly beautiful woman - even for her age - She is the daughter of Brion O'Lynn former King of Dyfed before being overthrown and slain by Triffyn Farfog 2 years after her marriage. She and her youngest brother Tadc are the only surviviors of the slaughter in which Farfog put her mother, 5 of her brothers and 7 sisters all to the spear. She has absolute hatred of Farfog. She has been forced due to her husband's ill health to assume his court and command duties to the consternation of scheming border Knights

Princess Sorcha (born 434) a fiery tempered beauty squired to her uncle Tadc. Unusual in itself - she is possibly the fiercest squire in service of the King.

Princess Gwen (born 436) milder and more ladylike than her sister. She is much more traditional.

Princess Nia (born 442) a sweet little girl possessed of the "sight". Honest and gentle. She is intended for the Priestesshood.

Sir Tadc O'Lynn (born 429) A fierce and honorable man devoted to his sister, her husband, and their children. He is their self-proclaimed protector. Orphaned at age 7, he was fostered in the court of King Tyngyr and although ostrisized for his "irishness" has been earning his renown as the finest knight of the King. Although young, he has proved to be Ystrad's finest battle commander and has the respect of the small army he commands. He is rash and fiercely loyal to the old man - but he knows Ystrad's days are numbered.
