NAME: Nangong Jie
NATIONALITY: China (2)
PRIMARY MISSION ROLE: Mission Commander (CO)
SECONDARY MISSION ROLE: Science: Heliophysicist
PROBLEM: Intolerance
EDGES/CONNECTIONS:
ISSUE:

Jie is a patriot and nationalist; way deep down, she has a secret contempt for the other nations involved in this endeavor.

NAME: Brian Rodriguez
NATIONALITY: U.S.
PRIMARY MISSION ROLE: Command Pilot
SECONDARY MISSION ROLE: Engineering: Astronomy field systems engineer (FSE)
PROBLEM: Attraction
EDGES/CONNECTIONS: Galina Soboleva, quick reflexes, observant
ISSUE: Jealousy

Brian Rodriguez's calm, cool demeanor made him an excellent choice as command pilot for the DL-2 mission. He was excited to be a part of such an important event in mankind's history. He was also excited that Galina Soboleva, the mission's astronomer, had been chosen, as part of the DL-3 team. Galina was young, spirited and attractive. The first time they hooked up was an accident during training. Fraternization amongst the crew was strictly forbidden. They had been careful, though, to hide the relationship developing between them.

Rodriguez never considered himself a jealous man, but with a predominantly male crew and such an attractive woman, a certain mistrust would only be natural, right?

NAME: Rajan Tripathi
NATIONALITY: India
PRIMARY MISSION ROLE: Systems engineer and Chief Engineer (CEO)
SECONDARY MISSION ROLE: Science: Mineralogist
PROBLEM: Withdrawal
EDGES/CONNECTIONS: Dr. Iris Adams, ?, ?
ISSUE: Solitude

Dr. Raj Tripathi is the Chief Engineer and mineralogist for the mission, attached to the first team in order to run the robots and build out the next phase of infrastructure. Raised in Mumbai and an overcrowded world, he was excited to escape to Mercury for some relative peace and quiet.

Tripathi is a withdrawn individual, which coupled with the Hindu-as-terrorist mentality prevalent in the mid-21st century, gives him something of a "bad boy" aspect. This led to a one-sided relationship with Iris Adams, the medical officer and comms specialist and final member of DL-2.

Tripathi gets along well enough with the members of DL-2, although he disagrees with some of the commander's choices. He resents the arrival of the DL-3 crew and having to hand over responsibilty of the ECLS parts of the infrastructure to Luo.

One of his side projects is to utilize the robots to expand some natural holes in the surface and produce sufficient "mercrete" from the regolth to build larger underground living space.

NAME: Wande Akintola
NATIONALITY: Nigerian
PRIMARY MISSION ROLE: Structural geologist
SECONDARY MISSION ROLE: Geodesist
PROBLEM: Regret to Guilt to Depression
EDGES/CONNECTIONS: Best Education Money Can Buy, Poet's Soul; Connection? (not sure, maybe to oil interests back on earth?)
ISSUE:Make peace with his inheritance

Son of a Nigerian Oil Baron; carries deep regret over the way the oil industry has ravaged his country and how his own privilege rests on that; likely to start to projecting that despair onto the project itself, identifying the planet with his home country.

NAME: Ronald Luo
NATIONALITY: Taiwanese American (China 1)
PRIMARY MISSION ROLE: Environmental Control and Life Support engineer
SECONDARY MISSION ROLE: Medical technician
PROBLEM: Competitiveness
EDGES/CONNECTIONS: That's not how we do it at home, Just a flesh wound, Deep Pockets
ISSUE:Burned all my bridges to get here now what?

Ronald was born in Taiwan to a Americian father and a Chinese mother. He has spent most of his life and education in America but when it became obvious that he would not get the American spot he switched to his mothers citizenship despite the fact that he learned to speak Chinese last year.

Ronald is very competitive with both the other Chinese crew member and the the Mission Commander. He feels that the ECLS is his second choice. He also has strong ideas about how the CEO should be doing his job in support of ECLS.

He has the support of several Taiwanese Manufacturing conglomerates as well as dissident factions within the PLA.
