John Cortez
Corporal, U.S. Army

John Cortez was born in El Paso, TX to a Mexican father and an American mother. His father's family had strong roots in the native indian people of Central America, and his grandmother told him a lifetime of stories and mythology. Having an eidetic memory, Cortez knew his grandmother's stories by heart by the time he left home and joined the army. Despite this extensive knowledge of Mesoamerican lore, Cortez prefers the world of hard reason and technology, and learned much in the military about how things were put together. Nonetheless, the COI saw his memory, and his bold tenacity as a soldier, as resources better used in Detachment 66.
