Cornelius

DESCRIPTION:

A native of Brownsville, Texas, Cornelius "Bradford" Bedford-Mitchell was a graduate student in Anthropology at Columbia University, where he studied under Franz Boas. A physically average man, Bedford has a big personality that takes up a lot of space. He did field work at Mayan sites being excavated by Columbia teams around Peten and at Chichen Itza, and traveled extensively in the region. After a falling out with Boas, his scholarship money was cut and he missed his examinations, trapped in Nicaragua. Bitter and penniless, bummed around central America for several years as a pineapple plantation supervisor, translator, and guide. Bedford has a soft spot for the natives of cetnral America, and lends a hand however he can.

Since his recruitment, Bedford-Mitchell has proven to be one of the most competent DET66 "Cowboys", participating in numerous operations. He was assigned to the Pacific Team in late '44. In March 1945, Bradford-Mitchell was taken prisoner off Bouvet island in the south atlantic. He was taken to the Projekt Landheim facility in antarctica and tortured into revealing extensive information about DET66 and the Special Group. While he was rescued, he carries a permanent limp from the ordeal and has been placed on inactive status. ---------
