FROM: Research Division, DET66 ("the Choirboys") After reviewing the testimonies of the field teams, and meeting with the affected members of the first group, it is clear that what they experienced was a form of other-dimensional incursion. From Bedford-Mitchell's testimony, and the photographs that the team brought back, it would seem that the ancient Mayans encountered an alien being of some kind who impressed them with his power and guided the construction of this temple. From the logographs, this being was capable of producing the very gods for the Mayans, by sacrificing people to the dimensional gate (note: cross reference "smoking-mirror" and "Tetzcatlipoca"). Agent Corliss seems the least changed by his experiences, particularly now in the light of the "civilized world". His body is recovering rapidly and it is our belief that he will be able to return to active duty once he has adjusted to his anti-psychotic regimen. Agent Doon-Green seems physically unharmed, and is actually recovering quite well. His vitals indicate his is in better health now than before, although within normal thresholds. However, his capacity for mental exercise seems to have vastly increased. Where before he only scored well with tests of imagination and creativity, he is now scoring highly on all levels of intellectual activity. He has been reading avidly, but he chooses textbooks and scientific treatise over fiction. He insists that he remembers little of the weeks he was missing. He recalls only that he was "abducted by aliens" who "probed him severely" before returning him "to Earth." We recommend that the agency return him to active duty but keep him under observation until the full measure of his changes are known. Finally, Agent John Cortez is, we fear, a hopeless case. Like Doon-Green, he is in many ways physically superior to what he was before. However, psychologically, Cortez is quite mad. He appears to be suffering from a form of Delusional Schizophrenia, at times believing himself to be "Tlacolotl, god of evil". His is a clearly troubling case, and it is our recommendation that he remain under supervision. ADDENDUM: Given the discoveries from our recent operation in Greenland, and the testimony of the German prisoner Kurt Tolle regarding the AsA's dscoveries, this team has formed a theory. We put forth the supposition that this Mayan dimensional gate is connected in some way to that which brought forth the creatures in Greenland and Paris. The form is different, to be sure, but, in Cortez's words:
Perhaps it is possible that the strength of an individual's will or imagination, and whatever preconceived notions they may have, is enough to shape the perception of the energies or beings from this other-dimension. Doon-Green met space aliens, Cortez found the Mayan gods of his grandmother's teachings. Although we do not have enough evidence as of yet, clearly this theory bears more investigation.
