B-17F 43-38292 H/R "Fat Baby" Missing in Action. This pathfinder aircraft was last seen near Mainz with the #4 engine feathered and extensive damage to the starboard control surfaces. Crashed Metz, France. Command pilots in the formation report that this aircraft intended to land west of Metz in Allied-occupied territory.
