RE: TRANSLATION OF DOCUMENTS FROM AHU JIMA RESEARCH FACILITY

SUMMARY:

Documents recovered from the raid on Ahu Jima Island Research Facility fall into three categories: Scientific, Medical, and Military communications. I have summarized the translations by category. All originals are included.

SCIENTIFIC DOCUMENTS:

Scientific documents recovered include Entomological and Chemical. The Entomological documents discuss insect specimen importation, catalogue, behavior, venom strength, and possibility of control. The actual translations of those documents are attached with the original copies. Documents we have classified as Chemical nature discuss the storage and care of the compound code named "Drink Me" and experiments in usage and synthesis of a second compound code named "compound 309" described as a vicious acidic compound derived from the secretions of a certain caterpillar. This compound was in experimental stages and the scientists were working on several derivations . apparently not very successfully. All documents (some only partial due to damage) are translated and attached with the originals.

MEDICAL DOCUMENTS:

Medical documents recovered describe various experiments conducted upon POWs. Experiments appear to be deliberate exposure of human subjects (the Japanese translates to "human log") to various insect venoms and secretions. documentation includes affects of venoms and secretions applied to directly to the brains of live patients. There are some diagrams and photographs of organs pre-exposure and post-exposure. These documents are translated and attached to the originals, and captions on photographs have been re-labeled.

MILITARY DOCUMENTS:

Military Documents recovered were translated first and include supply ship schedules, names and records of delivery, POW "Hell Ships" past and expected arrival, military personnel stationed on Ahu Jima, Japanese Imperial Navy combat and escort ships operating in the vicinity . these documents have been forwarded to Seventh Fleet HQ. The most curious document appears to be completely in code. This document has been translated, and ATIS is working with code breakers and recent code-books to decipher the message. Will notify when complete.
